RENA BIRCH
Age: anywhere from 17 to 20 yrs
Gender: Female (she/her)
Sexuality: Bisexual demiromantic
Height: 5 ft. 6 in.
Ren is the daughter of Professor Birch. She is native to the Hoenn region, which is where her Pokémon adventure technically started, as evidenced by her Blaziken and Mightyena. She received her first Pokémon, Torchic, at the age of 10 from her father. Following a tumultuous divorce, Ren's mother moved to Paldea when Ren was a little girl, taking the little girl along with her.Ren is very sensitive about her childhood before coming to Paldea, and doesn't like to talk about it. If asked about it, she'll opt to redirect the conversation elsewhere. She's best friends and rivals with her childhood friend, Nemona. Having grown up in Cabo Poco together, the pair are very close. Kieran, one of her friends from Blueberry Academy, has been vying for the title of rival (to which Ren lovingly teases him for) since she transferred. She also has a teeny tiny crush on Arven - don't tell anyone! After defeating the Elite Four and becoming Champion, Ren set a new goal for herself - to complete as many Pokédexes as she can. As such, the girl spends most of her time traveling across the world, making new friends - Pokémon and human alike - as she goes.
LITTLE PARADOX
Type: Electric/Pyschic
Ability: Static
Nature: Quirky
Moves: Play Rough, Static Shock, Rest, Electric Surge
After exploring around the Crystal Pools in Kitakami, Ren suddenly finds herself transported back in time, deep within the Great Crater of Paldea. In Zero Lab, she runs into the great Professor Turo, and promptly gets scolded for being in a restricted area. However, after desperately trying to explain herself, Ren is grateful when Turo starts to believe her. That gratefulness is short lived though, as immediately the Professor is intent on studying her. Now, Professor Turo had initially intended on injecting her with a tranquilizer so that he could easier subdue the girl. Instead, he had mistakenly injected her with something else - a sample of Miraidon's blood. This simple mistake lead to a painful transformation process, and left the poor girl as a hybrid between human and Pokemon. The pair have a complex relationship. Ren is a test subject of Turo's, an experiment gone awry in the best way possible. He calls her his 'Little Paradox', and treats her almost like she's his daughter -- or his 'creation', as he likes to put it.Ren herself, emotions still raw from the happenings with AI Turo, doesn't know how to feel about how Turo treats her. Part of her wants to pull away, to find a way to escape Zero Lab. Another part of her, one that she's deeply embarrassed about, craves the love and affection he gives her -- even if it isn't entirely genuine. No matter how much love he gives her though, Ren isn't free from the constant testing, the scans, the experimentation that comes with being his favorite subject. The girl is put through constant torment in the name of science, and is hardly ever given a break. This causes a huge rift between them, but as he is her only source of human interaction deep down in Area Zero, Ren is powerless to resist his faux apologies, or his promises that it'll never happen again.
Whilst traveling across the world, Ren likes to switch up the Pokémon she uses as her main team. Some Pokémon are staples, especially Flare and Chomp, while others are not.Regardless, Ren takes her Pokémon with her everywhere she goes, either in Boxes, or physically on her -- there's a reason why her backpack is so heavy!Teams are listed in the order in which Ren has used them in her travels.
